A Look At College Grants For Women

For many women, after high school they choose to marry or go straight into the work force to support themselves and their family. While others go to college only to give up for the same reasons. Later in life they come to the realization that they would like to return to school to further their education or to improve their skills for a better job. But money is usually what stops them. That is why many school grants for women are available today to give those women the advantage and help they need.

Women today now have the options of a variety of different foundations and associations that help them get back into school with grants and scholarships. Some grants are for women who are thirty-five or older with a low income. Other grants may focus on a specific career field like math or science. Even women with some college education who hold an undergraduate degree can get help to improve that degree.

One foundation offers grants to women with low incomes who are at least thirty five and really want to go back to school. If they can show how a degree will help them not only improve their life and family, but also how they can help their community and society, they are offered two thousand dollar grants.

Some women haven’t been able to work for a variety of personal reasons, like having a baby or taking care of a family. For them, getting back into the workplace can be difficult and they need to upgrade the skills they already have. In that situation, a scholarship is available through one foundation and can range from two thousand to four thousand dollars. These are set up to help women re-enter the work force with the skills they need to advance and be successful.

The accounting field has its own foundation to help women pursue a graduate degree in accounting. There come with no restrictions of age or minority here like other foundations, so women of all ages can apply. These range from a thousand to five thousand dollars in grant money.

Women who have already obtained their undergraduate degree can now return to school to further that degree with financial help. Fellowships and grants are available to help them further their education. These grants are usually in fields such as science, engineering, math, and statistics and range from $5000 to $20,000.

Although there are a lot of associations and private foundations out there that help women return to school, they are not the only areas to look into. Some state and government programs also offer grants to women that want an education in the high-need areas, like health. There are grants for nursing schools and health care positions where there is a need of qualified people.

There are a lot of ways for a woman to return to school today without having to worry about the costs. There are many foundations and associations whose goal is to help women get back in school and obtain the higher education they want. Don’t let worrying about money stop you from doing what you want to do, research which grant would fit what you want and apply.
